The Rev. Frank Logue The Sound of Silence Note: This sermon is in audio form only. However, the sermon ended with a video clip, which we cannot offer here. As the clip was text only, the audio file misses the punch line of the sermon. Here is the sound file of the sermon. More information on the video clip follows.
The clip itself, 40,000,000 minutes, is in Visual Reality Volume Four and may be viewed online here by following this link and then selecting volume four and then the clip 40,000,000 minutes. To get the gist of the video, here is how the folks at Visual Reality summarize it: Some studies say the average lifespan of an person in the US is 77 years (or 40 million minutes.) We decided to create an illustration that would demonstrate how much time the average Christian spends with God within this time frame. We compared the amount of time the average person spends per day getting dressed, watching TV, using the telephone and using the bathroom with the amount of time the average Christian spends with God. Then we broke these figures down into hours per month, days per year, and years in a lifetime. The big picture shows how much time is spent in a lifetime with the creator of time. Here is a summary. In a lifetime, the average person spends: • 2 years on the phone • 3 years in the bathroom • 3 years getting dressed • 11 years watching TV In contrast: • In a lifetime, the average Christian spends less than 6 months with God. |
